Lights up on stage. An ant hill sits center, pointed at the sky. It is stagnant, still, the scene is set. An ant, played by a young man, enters stage right. He begins an intricate dance of swirls and twirls about the colony entrance, it is symbolic of his servitude towards the kingdom. It is symbolic of his love for the queen. He would do anything for her. He would even die for her. He produces a ribbon baton from his abdomen and twists it about his frame. A light shines from downstage and his silhouette is cast on the backdrop. Behind him, from the shadow, the queen approaches. Several more ants come to stage. The ants all turn towards the queen. She is huge. She is beautiful. They dance, arms in the air, running in place, they worship their queen. Lines of ants come in, carrying bits of crumbs, bringing them to her queen. So that she may grow. So that she may continue to produce more ants. It is, in truth, the point of life. The queen rises above the others. Towering even the tallest of ants. A massive arm lowers, the ants rush to her, to experience her. They are graced by a god. She takes them closer, hugging her offspring, and she speaks, “I will never be full. Your duties will never cease.” They cheer, for they know nothing else.
